Ukraine LIVE: Russia breaks Trump deal as massive drone attack sets Ukraine on fire | World | News

Russia has unleashed a wave of drone strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, with explosions rocking Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia overnight.

In Odesa, a barrage of blasts—reportedly 18 in total—knocked out power across the city, leaving three people injured and causing damage to a high-rise block and a shopping centre, according to local officials.

Rescue teams in Donetsk were also deployed to Sloviansk and Dobropillia, working under the threat of renewed Russian attacks as they tackled fires and cleared rubble, with casualties reported.

Conversely, the Sudzha gas pipeline, which carries Russian gas to Europe via Ukraine’s Sumy region, was also targeted by Ukraine, while in Russia, a fire continues to rage at Engels airbase, home to strategic bombers.

The latest escalation comes despite Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly telling Donald Trump earlier this week that he was willing to halt attacks on Ukraine’s power grid as part of a potential peace deal.
