Novak Djokovic defies injury to reach Olympics final and Alcaraz rematch | Tennis | Sport

He didn’t lose another game, breaking three times to put himself into his first Olympics final, and the boos quickly turned back into “Nole” chants. Djokovic will now face Alcaraz in Sunday’s gold medal match.

The Serb has never been this far at the Olympics – he previously reached three other semi-finals and lost them all, and his only bronze medal came in Beijing in 2008. The 37-year-old has a chance to avenge his straight-set defeat to Alcaraz in the recent Wimbledon final just three weeks later.

Ahead of a potential rematch, Alcaraz said: “It’s always really difficult facing Novak. I will try to play my best, which I have been doing in (recent) meetings.”
