Kim Jong Un dumps more rubbish carrying balloons on South Korea after poo attack | World | News

Kim Jong Un has launched more rubbish-carrying balloons toward South Korea, following the release of approximately 260 balloons earlier in the week.

According to South Korea’s military, Pyongyang claims this action is in retaliation for activists flying anti-North Korean leaflets across the border.

Between Tuesday and Wednesday, balloons carrying various items of rubbish, including plastic bottles, batteries, toilet paper, and what is believed to be manure, were dropped in eight of South Korea’s nine provinces, an official from the Joint Chiefs of Staff reported.

South Korea’s Yonhap news agency, citing anonymous military sources, reported that as of Saturday night, officials had found about 90 new balloons that dropped paper and plastic trash and cigarette butts in areas in the capital, Seoul, and nearby Gyeonggi province.

The military has advised people to be cautious of falling objects and to avoid touching items suspected to be from North Korea. Instead, they should report such objects to military or police officers. There have been no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

In Seoul, the city government sent text alerts informing residents that unidentified objects, suspected to be flown from North Korea, were detected in the skies near the city and that the military was responding to the situation.
