Woman’s ‘lifesaving’ tip for preventing ripped tights with 89p staple
At this time of the year, the cold weather can be unforgiving – so if you’re heading out to a Christmas party, you might have to stick a pair of tights on.
They’re the perfect way to add an extra layer of warmth and class to your outfits, but there’s one very common problem that you’ve probably faced before.
Tights can rip very easily, especially if they’re a thin variety, and this can end up ruining your entire look.
Even snagging them on the smallest thing can result in an unsightly ladder, forcing you to throw the tights in the bin.
However, one woman on social media has shared a ‘lifesaving’ hack that’s said to prevent your tights from getting ripped, allowing you to enjoy your night out in peace.
Even better, it only requires one very simple beauty staple product that costs less than £1.
TikToker Eabha O’Donoghue shared the genius tip in a video which has racked up more than 200k views in just one day.
She showed herself about to embark on a night out, wearing a leather jacket, sequinned shorts, and a pair of tights for that extra warmth.
But in a bid to prevent them from accidentally ripping, she gave her legs a quick douse with hairspray – something that commenters described as the ‘best hack ever’.
Captions across Eabha’s video read: “Spraying my tights with hairspray so they don’t rip was probably the best thing I have ever discovered.”
A can of hairspray costs as little as 85p from Bodycare and 89p from Savers, making it the perfect nifty trick for anybody on a budget too.
This advice was echoed by the experts at Good Housekeeping, who previously hailed the benefits of hairspray when it comes to making your tights last longer.
They said: “Spraying your tights with hairspray once you’ve put them on will apparently help to reinforce the fibres, though be sure to give yourself just a light spray rather than a dousing.”
In the TikTok‘s comments, many people thanked Eabha for her advice and said they would be trying it out as soon as possible.
One person said: “Wait this is genius!” while another wrote: “This is life saving.”
A third commented: “Yess best hack ever.”
