Urgent Asda recall issued for children’s toy due to choking risk
Asda has issued a product recall alert for a children’s toy, urging shoppers to bring the item back to their local branch. The supermarket has cautioned customers that the toy presents a choking hazard to youngsters.
Consequently, Asda has taken the decision to recall the product, which was available for purchase between August 2024 and February 2026. The recall affects the Hapello Power Train, described as a blue plastic toy train featuring orange detailing. A small component of the train can work loose and create a choking risk.
The toy carries the barcode 5063089308547. Asda cautioned: “We have found that in some cases this product may release the orange steam dome from the top of the train, which could pose as a small part choking hazard. We have taken the decision to recall the product.”
Customers who own the toy have been urged to return it to their nearest Asda branch. The supermarket stated: “If you have purchased the Hapello Power Train, please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund.”, reports the Mirror.
“You do not need your receipt. The product was sold between 2024 and 2026. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information, please contact: Asda Customer Relations – 0330 053 0111.”
Last week, additional children’s products were recalled due to choking hazards. A Soft Bulalaet Gun from Smart Toys Limited that fires water beads from a plastic tank was recalled as it posed a risk of ‘asphyxiation’ in children.
Several books featuring Peppa Pig and Hey Duggee have been recalled years after their production. Ladybird titles featuring these beloved children’s characters pose a choking hazard to youngsters.
Printed across the UK between 2020 and 2021, these books present a choking danger as small parts can become detached from the covers.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards advised: “We recommend that owners keep these products out of reach of young children and return it to the distributor for a full refund.”
Book publisher Penguin stated: “If you have a copy from any of the printings listed please take the book away from small children and return it to the retailer you bought it from for a full refund (there is no need to produce a receipt).
“No other printings of the titles included in this product recall or any other titles are affected by this issue.”
