Trump gives major Iran war update after mysterious call with Putin | World | News
Donald Trump provided a major update on the war in Iran as he spoke to the press after holding a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two leaders held a call on Monday evening, the first known to have taken place in 2026, during which they discussed the operation in Iran and the war in Ukraine, according to Russian state agency TASS. The pair, the news outlet also claimed, also touched upon the topic of Venezuela during their hour-long chat.
Following their call, Mr Trump spoke to a US news outlet, suggesting Operation Epic Fury, the codename for the strikes being launched on Iranian targets by Israel and Washington, may soon come to an end. He said: “I think the war is very complete, pretty much.”
Speaking to CBS News, he added: “[Iran has] no navy, no communications, they’ve got no Air Force.
“Their missiles are down to a scatter. Their drones are being blown up all over the place, including their manufacturing of drones.”
Suggesting the operation has so far being successful, he added Iran has “nothing left” from a military point of view, after the US military said to have struck more than 3000 targets in a week.

His son, Mojtaba Khamenei, was officially appointed on Sunday as the new Supreme Leader of the Middle Eastern country.
Mr Trump, who previously suggested he wanted to have a say in who the new leader of the country would be, said he had “no message” for Ayatollah Khamenei.
Seven US military personnel have lost their lives in the conflict so far.
The war on Iran has also prompted a series of retaliatory attacks from Tehran against other Middle Eastern nations, including the UAE.
On the weekend, after Mr Trump demanded unconditional surrender from Iran, its president Masoud Pezeshkian rejected the US President’s demand, while apologising for the Iranian attacks that had hit neighbouring countries.
