Top stylist shares what to wear this party season – no dresses necessary

Head stylist Megan Watkins, at SilkFred, revealed her top five looks to sparkle in December. “Dresses are beautiful, but they’re not the only way to look festive and fabulous,” said Megan.

“This season, it’s all about mixing textures, playing with tailoring, and embracing trends like mohair, burgundy, and sparkle in unexpected ways.”

One of the first looks to embrace is a jumpsuit, which is “effortlessly chic”. Jewel jumpsuits are a must: think gorgeous emerald or sapphire and velvet or sequinned details.

To make the most of a jewel-toned jumpsuit, pair it with metallic ballet flats for a nod to the balletcore trend, or heeled boots for added edge. Statement earrings or a sparkly clutch will complete the outfit – adding a touch of festive glamour.

Megan also recommended “an oversized blazer and wide-leg trousers in a rich fabric like burgundy velvet or black satin”.

This look is best paired with a sheer blouse for texture, and mohair accessories for a wintery feel.

“Finish with sleek pointed-toe heels or glittery tights peeking out from cropped hems,” advised Megan.

The fashionista added: “For those who love sparkle but want a modern twist, a sequin blazer and matching trousers are a bold choice.

“Keep the rest of your look simple with strappy heels and a silk camisole or bralette.”

Then there’s the choice of high-waisted tailored trousers with an embellished or sheer blouse.

“A burgundy or metallic top instantly feels festive, and you can play with accessories like a velvet belt to define your waist,” advised Megan. “Ballet flats or suede boots make this look comfortable yet polished.”

Then there’s following the mohair trend, which works best as a cropped sweater with a high-waisted midi skirt or wide-leg trousers in a jewel tone.

“Add sparkle with a chunky necklace or layered bracelets, and don’t forget a bold lip to complete the look,” concluded Megan.
