Thomas Tuchel and Bayern Munich ‘to part ways’ as West Ham a step closer to dream manager | Football | Sport

Thomas Tuchel is reportedly set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season following talks with the higher powers at the club. The German has struggled since returning to the Bundesliga, prompting conversations as to whether he could be replaced by Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso.

Bayern have endured a torrid season so far, with the Bavarians suffering their fourth loss of the season over the weekend when being beaten 3-2 by VfL Bochum. The defeat was Tuchel’s side’s third consecutive defeat in all competitions, piling the pressure on ex-Chelsea manager as a result.

The higher powers at the Allianz Arena had insisted that they would not sack Tuchel, though they appear to have altered their stance marginally following a fresh round of talks with the 50-year-old.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Tuchel and Bayern have held ‘good and fair discussions’ about his position as manager and how the season is unravelling, with a decision being made for him to part ways with the club at the end of the season.

An official announcement on the significant decision is anticipated soon, with Bayern now on the lookout for their next boss to steer the club in the right direction in the 2024/25 campaign. Leverkusen boss Alonso is high on the list of considerations at the Allianz Arena, with Liverpool also very interested in acquiring the services of the Spaniard once Jurgen Klopp departs.

Alonso’s side are yet to taste defeat in the Bundesliga so far this season, with the club at the top of the table and holding an impressive eight-point lead over second-placed Bayern. Former Germany manager Hansi Flick is also likely to be shortlisted for the vacancy, though Bayern are also keen on the 58-year-old.
