The world’s ‘most beautiful’ football stadium perched on tiny island | World | News

This football stadium is known for its incredible location, and is often dubbed one of the most beautiful pitches in the world.

The pitch can be found in the Lofoten Islands in Norway, northern Scandinavia.

The remote area features breathtaking natural landscapes and the secluded pitch is a key feature of the Lofoten Islands.

Captured by drone, the football gem has been snapped by many photographers for its unique surroundings.

Ivan Pedretti, a photographer, was visiting Henningsvær, a settlement on the edge of the Lofoten archipelago in the country.

Pedretti was able to capture incredible images of one of the world’s most unique football pitches, reports The Mirror.

The 50-year-old snapper headed out specifically to catch what he considers one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world.

The photographer, from Sardinia, Italy, said: “The pitch is a classic football field size, it’s incredible to have such a pitch on such a small island.

“Because it’s a famous place in Lofoten, it’s almost compulsory to visit and having seen it for the first time in 2020 I wanted to see it again to take a photo from the top.

“Henningsvær Stadium is made entirely of artificial turf as the cold winter season would not allow the grass to have a natural continuity between seasons.”

The small town where the stadium is located is home to around 25,000 people who love amongst the breathtaking beauty of the archipelago.

It is surrounded by sea and only connected to the main island via a bridge built in 1983.

The stadium is located on the Arctic Circle’s rocky islands and it makes a popular place to visit amongst football fans who note its unique features.

To make Henningsvær Stadium, they levelled the solid bedrock of the south of Hellandsøya Island.

It’s not the largest, but around 500 people can watch a game there which is enough capacity to cater for the island due to its small population.
