The top 5 books loved by billionaires Elon Musk and Bill Gates – full list | Books | Entertainment

If you’ve ever wondered what billionaires like to read, two of the most prominent businessmen have shared their favourite books. Elon Musk and Bill Gates often credit their innovation partly to the books they read.

Their reading lists are packed with profound insights, offering a glimpse into the ideas and strategies that have shaped their thinking. These five books are some of the most influential works that have left a lasting impact on the tech visionaries.

1. Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari

This book is at the top of Bill Gates’ book list on Goodreads and it’s a classic novel enjoyed by many.

The number one bestseller explores how Homo sapiens rose to dominance through cognitive, agricultural, and scientific revolutions, shaping human culture and society.

Harari argues that shared myths, such as money, religion, and political systems, enabled large-scale cooperation and the development of complex civilisations.

3. Dune by Frank Herbert

The sci-fi novel has since been turned into a hit film starring Timothée Chalamet.

Elon Musk, reflecting on the novel, said: “Brilliant. The author advocates placing limits on machine intelligence.”

The novel follows Paul Atreides, whose family takes control of the desert planet Arrakis, the only source of the valuable spice melange.

After betrayal and the murder of his father, Paul embraces his destiny among the Fremen, leading a revolution that will change the fate of the galaxy.

5. Outliers: The Story of Success

Featured at spot number three on Bill Gates’ list, Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell explores how factors like culture, family, and timing, along with the “10,000-hour rule” of practice can contribute to extraordinary success.

Gladwell argues that success is not just about talent but also about hidden advantages and opportunities.
