Roy Keane blasts ‘f***ing rubbish’ Man Utd star during Arsenal watch a | Football | Sport
Roy Keane went on an X-rated rant about Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford, labelling his contributions during the game against Arsenal as ‘shocking’.
Ruben Amorim suffered his first defeat as United boss since taking charge last month, with two Arsenal set pieces doing the damage on a soggy night at the Emirates Stadium.
Second-half goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba did the job for Arsenal, as they moved to within seven points of Premier League leaders Liverpool.
But ex-Red Devils ace Keane was left frustrated with one United star in particular, blasting Rashford’s contributions after being brought off the bench by Amorim.
Commenting on The Overlap’s watchalong, Keane said: “I’ll tell you something, Marcus Rashford’s come on. His general play as a footballer is shocking.
“Watch his header there. Have United’s subs given anything since coming on? Nothing. The subs have done nothing.
“Manchester United deserve nothing anyway. They were rubbish. You know what happens with United? They fool you, they fool you. They’re not dynamic.”
He continued: “I’m really disappointed with Manchester United. I thought the players were going through the motions a little bit.
“It was easy for Arsenal. The first half was fine but I was expecting a bit more.
“The manager’s probably thinking he thought United were a bit better than this. I was getting really frustrated at the end there.”
Picking up on a later mistake from the Englishman, Keane added: “That’s rubbish. That’s f***ing rubbish, he’s just kicked it out of play.”
Keane looked aghast at what he was seeing on the Emirates Stadium turf, with the former Ireland international sat wide-mouthed as old chum Ian Wright basked in Arsenal‘s glory beside him.
Rashford had impressed during the early Amorim days, netting against Ipswich Town before bagging a brace during the weekend win over Everton.
But having dropped to the bench for the clash against Arsenal, Rashford failed to make the required impact as a substitute.
Amorim was keen to keep spirits high post-match, stating: “The set pieces changed the game. We could’ve been more aggressive towards the Arsenal box. Until the set pieces the game didn’t have too many opportunities for both sides, the set pieces killed the game.
“They can put a lot of players near the goalkeeper and it’s almost impossible to fight for the ball but we have to manage to defend them and we already know we have to be better.
“We were committed and we lost to the set pieces. If Matthijs [de Ligt] can score in that moment the momentum would be different. We tried to play but they are a very organised team and it’s hard to score. I felt the players were in control of the game, the set pieces changed the game in the second half.”
