Carlos Alcaraz kickstarted his Paris Masters campaign in style with a victory over Nicolas Jarry on Tuesday with a 7-5, 6-1 success to book his spot in the third round.

The event has sprung plenty of surprises already this week, and they are not showing any sign of stopping.

After Tommy Paul’s exit at the hands of Adrian Mannarino, seventh seed Casper Ruud was dumped out of the competition by unseeded Jordan Thompson. Andrey Rublev was also beaten by Francisco Cerundolo.

Wednesday’s action looks sure to provide another 24 hours of drama, with Jack Draper, Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev all on court.
