One of the best action films ever is now streaming for free on ITVX | Films | Entertainment
Based on the 1966 TV series of the same name, the Mission: Impossible films seem to get better and better.
As Tom Cruise’s spy gears up for the eighth instalment in the franchise next year, he’ll be reunited with Henry Czerny’s former IMF director Eugene Kittridge who returned in 2023’s Dead Reckoning Part One.
The actor hadn’t played the role in the series since Brian De Palma’s 1996 original which is now streaming on ITVX for free.
The first Mission: Impossible movie follows Cruise’s Ethan Hunt seeking to uncover who framed him for the murders of his IMF team.
And it turns out the movie was a canonical sequel to the 1988 Mission: Impossible TV series, set six years after the former.
Despite mixed reviews at the time of release, Mission: Impossible made over $450 million on a budget of $80 million at the box office and has gone on to be considered an action classic.
The film co-starred Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, who has played the character opposite Cruise’s Ethan Hunt in all eight movies to date.
Mission: Impossible is streaming for free on ITVX now.
