Nationwide Building Society to offer dementia clinics in high street branches | Personal Finance | Finance

Nationwide Building Society is to use its branch network to offer specialist dementia clinics on high streets.

People will be able to book free clinic appointments in branches on set dates, and the society said they are available for anyone affected by dementia, including family members and carers.

The building society has joined forces with Dementia UK, aiming to extend specialised assistance throughout its over 200 branches, making it accessible to non-customers as well as its own membership base.

Nationwide’s in-branch dementia support will offer a comprehensive blend of health and financial advice.

Services range from aiding individuals in comprehending the nuances of a dementia diagnosis to addressing concerns about symptoms, providing guidance on caring for someone with the condition, and covering vital financial and legal considerations, alongside emotional support.

Clients can receive this guidance either face-to-face within the branch or via telephone, as confirmed by Nationwide, which is also sponsoring 30 Admiral Nurses from Dementia UK.

Debbie Crosbie, Nationwide’s chief executive, expressed her commitment to customer wellbeing.

She said: “Nationwide wants to help people live their best life possible, for as long as possible.”

Dementia UK’s CEO and chief Admiral Nurse, Dr Hilda Hayo, acknowledged the significance of Nationwide’s support, remarking: “Nationwide’s backing, network and expertise will help us deliver practical and emotional face-to-face support across the country in their branches, helping us bring specialist dementia care to more people than ever through our Admiral Nurses.”

“With the number of people living with dementia in the UK set to exceed one million in the next year, this timely partnership will be crucial as we increase our services and reach to ensure no-one faces dementia alone.”
