Morrisons customers handed instant 10% off at till with one card | Personal Finance | Finance
A major supermarket chain is giving customers who work in 30 different professions a 10% discount in its stores. Morrisons allows workers with a Blue Light Card to slash the cost of food and drinks in its cafes when the card is shown at the till.
A Blue Light Card is the UK’s leading discount service for people who have jobs in the emergency services, NHS, social care sector, teaching community and the armed forces, and it is accepted in Morrisons stores. Morrisons will give Blue Light Card holders 10% off on purchases over £40 on February 27. This will apply from 7am, with a maximum discount of £70. The discount is not in place for Morrisons Daily stores or Morrisons patrol stations. The supermarket will also accept the card in its cafes and Brew coffee shops. Workers who have a Blue Light Card simply need to present it at the till in any of Morrisons’ 344 cafes across the UK to claim 10% off food and drinks.
A spokesperson said: “Enjoy 10% off at Morrisons Cafe with your Blue Light Card. You can now use your Blue Light Card in our Morrisons Cafe and Brew coffee shops for 10% off your order. Find your local cafe.”
The card cannot be used in conjunction with any other membership scheme or discount card, excluding a Morrisons More Card. If you are eligible and don’t have a Blue Light Card it costs just £4.99 for two year’s access and you can sign up online.
Workers with jobs in the following professions are all eligible to get a Blue Light Card which can then be used to claim the 10% discount in Morrisons:
Ambulance Service including retired
Community First Responders
Fire Service including retired
Highways England Traffic Officer
HM Prison & Probation Services
