Mohamed Salah’s agent drops contract hint in potential sly dig at Liverpool bosses | Football | Sport

Mohamed Salah’s agent has dropped a cryptic contract hint while firing a potential dig in the direction of Liverpool’s hierarchy.

Salah is currently out of contract at the end of the season and has been free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of England since the turn of the year.

The Egyptian is one of three Liverpool mega-stars whose deals are running out at the end of the season, alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold and skipper Virgil van Dijk.

Talk surrounding fresh terms has overshadowed Salah’s season so far, with his agent taking to social media to share his – albeit enigmatic – thoughts on the situation.

Ramy Abbas Issa, who represents the Liverpool ace, quote replied to a post sent from @empireofthekop, which read: “We’re 7 points clear. There’s a title to be won,” accompanied by a photo of Arne Slot and the league table.

Abbas said in response: “Excellent at his job.”

It’s unknown exactly what – or rather who – Abbas was referencing with the four-word reply, but given his client Salah has been in stellar form for the six-time European champions this term, there’s every chance it was him who he’s pointing out is doing so well.

Abbas may even be hinting Salah is keen to keep working with Slot, while digging out the Liverpool hierarchy who are yet to meet his contract demands.

Slot has continually been asked about Salah’s future since arriving through the door at Liverpool, explaining the decision is somewhat out of his hands.

Addressing the saga last month, the ex-Feyenoord chief said: “Everybody wants him, including us. We want him to extend of course as well – that is clear.

“I’m not surprised that Saudi want him but I wouldn’t be surprised if other countries want him as well.

“He’s old enough and wise enough, and has done so many smart things in his career, that he will make the right decision for himself and, hopefully, for us as well.”

Salah has netted an astonishing 22 goals in 24 Premier League matches this season, as well as registering a further 14 assists to help put Liverpool in prime position for the league title.

Their pursuit continues this weekend when Wolves make the trip to Merseyside, with Slot expected to be in the dugout despite receiving a red card following the full-time whistle against Everton on Wednesday night.

Following the Wolves game, Liverpool face a gruelling end to the month, with matches against Aston Villa, Manchester City and Newcastle United all to come in the Premier League.
