Miami Open LIVE: Alcaraz blindsided by Djokovic as Raducanu gets ruthless | Tennis | Sport
Carlos Alcaraz has admitted he was left in the dark about the Professional Tennis Players Association’s (PTPA) decision to take legal action against the sport’s governing bodies and doesn’t support the movement from his fellow tennis professionals.
The 21-year-old says he was left blindsided by the PTPA’s bombshell statements released on Tuesday. In forthcoming lawsuit, the PTPA – an organisation co-chaired by Novak Djokovic – accused the ATP, WTA, ITIA and ITF ‘systemic abuse and corruption’.
“Honestly it was surprising for me because honestly, no one told me anything about it,” Alcaraz said ahead of his first match at the Miami Open. “Yesterday I saw on social media that there were statements…. Like, they put something that I said in a press conference which I didn’t know.
“Honestly I don’t support that letter… l don’t support that because I didn’t know anything about it. There are some things that I agree with, there are some other things that I don’t agree with. The main thing here is that I’m not supporting that.”
