Mason Greenwood breaks silence on Getafe move as his name is chanted during unveiling | Football | Sport

Greenwood was dropped by United following a lengthy internal investigation into his conduct. A decision to ensure the 21-year-old continues his career away from Old Trafford came six months after the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He has always denied the allegations.

A search for a new club concluded with United reaching an agreement with Getafe for the Spanish outfit to take him on loan for the season. He was welcomed by supporters in an official unveiling on Tuesday evening.

Pyrotechnics were set off as Greenwood walked onto the pitch while the stadium announcer encouraged fans to repeat his name. Supporters were then heard chanting “Greenwood, Greenwood, Greenwood!”
