Martin Lewis’ MSE says ‘hours left’ to bag £175 free cash | Personal Finance | Finance
The website of money-saving guru Martin Lewis, MoneySavingExpert.com, has issued a critical alert, with British citizens having mere hours left to grab a free £175 windfall.
The advisory came via the MSE newsletter that went live this morning. It cautioned that First Direct was planning to discontinue its £175 switching offer when the clock strikes midnight tonight (July 31).
The digital banking service had reintroduced the promotion back in May, but with the caveat that it was a “limited time only” deal.
In its word of caution, MSE pointed out that First Direct – a sibling institution to HSBC – received high praise for its customer service based on the latest MSE survey. In addition, MSE illuminated the additional benefits provided by the bank such as a 7% regular saver account – arguably one of the most competitive offerings currently available in the market – and a 0% overdraft facility, reports the Mirror.
In the newsletter, the team declared: “ENDS 11.59pm WED. FREE £175 to switch to top service bank. Last week we predicted First Direct’s* FREE £175 would end soon. Now it’s confirmed. The account got a 91% ‘great’ service rating in our last poll, has a linked 7% regular savings account you can put up to £300/mth in, and many get a £250 0% overdraft.”
Those eager to take advantage of this generous offer while it’s still available will need to act swiftly and submit their switching application through the Current Account Switch Service (CASS) within the next few hours. To be eligible for the £175, customers must meet certain requirements, including transferring a balance of £1,000 into the account, switching at least two regular payments, and using their debit card a minimum of five times within 30 days of opening the account.
If you have previously held a First Direct product or opened an HSBC current account on or after January 1, 2018, you will not qualify for the incentive.
