Marks and Spencer shoppers wowed by ‘perfect holiday dress’

A “light and breezy” dress from M&S is being hailed as the “perfect holiday dress” by M&S shoppers. They say it “glides over lumps and bumps”, making it an “easy summer outfit” for both day and night.

The M&S Linen Rich Knee Length Shift Dress, priced at £29.50, comes in three different colours, including a striking bright blue that’s sure to highlight a tan. There’s also an onyx colour that is available and a patterned version.

Crafted from a linen-rich fabric, the dress features a classic shift silhouette that falls nicely over the hips and tummy. The knee-length style and round neckline make it suitable for all ages, while the simple button fastening at the back adds a delicate touch.

The Linen Rich Knee Length Shift Dress is available in sizes six to 24 and also comes in petite, regular and tall lengths to cater to a variety of body types.

It has received glowing reviews on the M&S website, with fashion enthusiasts praising the “light and cool” fabric that “barely creases”.

Some shoppers loved how easy it was to style – either casually with a pair of sandals or dressed up with jewellery and wedges. One shopper said: “Perfect holiday dress.”

The shopper elaborated: “I wanted a dress for during the day and this is perfect. Light and cool material, lovely colour too and great price. I love the length as being a woman in her late 50s, I prefer a length that sits over the knees. Would definitely recommend.”

Another fan wrote: “Ordered this in black and it’s a fabulous plain but classy dress, especially with it being knee length. Great linen for the price.”

Lou, another M&S shopper, said: “Lovely little number, dress up or down, loads of possibilities.” Another happy customer said: “Perfect fit, nice and loose for those hot days and nice for evening wear.”

And another wrote: “Great lightweight dress. Wanted a linen dress to go to Lisbon. Really pleased with purchase. Good fit and length. Didn’t crease too much and ideal for a holiday.”

Some people, however, found the shift-style fit to be “shapeless”, with one saying: “Okay-ish, bit baggy in the front, not as flattering as I’d hoped.”

However, others loved the figure-skimming shape, as one commented: “Easy summer dress… it hangs well and skims over the lumpy bits.”

Aliena, another satisfied shopper, opined: “I wanted to buy this dress but missed out first time around so was delighted when it came back in stock. It’s perfect for almost every occasion as it can be dressed up or down – fits really well so very happy!”

Someone else commented: “Perfect fit, comfortable and can be worn plain during the day or dressed up for the evening. Gorgeous colour and hasn’t creased at all.”

George at Asda has a similar dress, the Stone Linen Rich Shift Dress, for £16, which has received mixed feedback. One shopper said: “I love the feel and colour of this dress – looks classy.

“But the shoulders are narrow, much like a racer style, so there is no way you can hide your bra straps. It can only be worn braless, unless you like straps showing.”

Another shopper explained: “Lovely dress, nice material. Ordered 14 and 16  – neither fit (I’m a 14), so ordered an 18 which fit but then was too big around armholes so didn’t purchase.”
