Man Utd news LIVE: Ruben Amorim’s mega wage demands emerge as Van Nistelrooy deletes post | Football | Sport
Manchester United have targeted a collection of glamorous names to take over from Erik ten Hag, with club CEO Omar Berrada reportedly holding talks with both Ruben Amorim and Xavi.
But England legend Gary Lineker believes the Red Devils may be wise to think closer to home.
Lee Carsley took charge of four England games on an interim basis before the FA appointed Thomas Tuchel instead.
And Lineker feels he is worth a gamble.
“It’s quite unusual for English clubs, isn’t it, to take a punt on someone,” he told The Rest is Football. “I’m going to throw in a name here, and I think it will be very interesting.
“I think he’s clearly a brilliant coach. A certain Lee Carsley, who they probably won’t think about.
“But he’s an imaginative coach, he plays really attacking football. The players, from what I heard at England, thought he was really good, really interesting and thoughtful on the game.”
