Major new Hollywood blockbuster makes streaming debut on Disney Plus this week | Films | Entertainment

Last weekend, Disney’s latest live-action remake, Snow White, hit cinemas to polarising reactions.

And now the Mouse House’s December blockbuster Mufasa: The Lion King is heading to Disney Plus this Wednesday.

The musical prequel to 2019’s The Lion King follows the youth of Simba’s father long before his murder by his evil brother Scar.

Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner and John Kani all reprise their roles from the original live-action remake.

Meanwhile, the voice cast is now joined by Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr, Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, Anika Noni Rose and Blue Ivy Carter.

The blockbuster, directed by Oscar-winner Barry Jenkins, is dedicated to the late James Earl Jones, who voiced Mufasa in the 1994 animation and the 2019 remake.

Mufasa: The Lion King is streaming on Disney+ from Wednesday March 26, 2025.
