Lewis Hamilton has £13m car collection which includes ultra-rare Ferrari made just for him | F1 | Sport
Lewis Hamilton‘s impressive car collection is something to behold, with the 39-year-old owning some of the rarest vehicles in the world. The soon-to-be Ferrari driver has earned a staggering amount of money since making his F1 debut back in 2007.
Hamilton’s epic wealth has allowed him to make some lavish purchases, with his car collection thought to be worth a staggering £13million. He is a self-confessed car fanatic and collects everything from the latest cutting-edge models to vintage classics.
Speaking to GQ in 2020, Hamilton said: “I don’t know anything about wine. I don’t know a huge amount about art. But what I do know is cars, and I’m very particular about them.”
The crowning jewel in Hamilton’s car collection is a custom Ferrari LaFerrari, which he purchased in 2015. It is decked out in the brand’s iconic red paint job and features his logo on the bodywork, making it a one-of-a-kind model.
According to ESPN, Hamilton bought it for over a million pounds with Mercedes not against him owning cars from rival manufacturers. It is among the fastest cars in his collection with an incredible top speed of 217 miles per hour.
He also owns a Ferrari 599 SA Aperta, which reportedly cost him over two million pounds to buy. Just 80 versions of the 599 were ever built, making it one of the rarest cars in his garage.
Hamilton previously owned a Pagani Zonda 760, which was crafted as a bespoke option for him before he sold it in 2021. The new owner went on to crash it while driving through a tunnel in Wales, with dashcam footage emerging of the incident in which nobody was hurt.
Two years ago, Hamilton took delivery of a Mercedes AMG One alongside other F1 figures such as Nico Rosberg and David Coulthard. The car features cutting-edge technology from the world of F1 and boasts a top speed of 220 miles per hour.
Several other Mercedes cars feature in Hamilton’s collection including an AMG GTR, which was used as the F1 safety car between 2018 and 2020. He does most of his daily driving in an electric EQC SUV, according to Planet F1.
Some of the classics owned by Hamilton include a Shelby Cobra from 1966, which is estimated to be worth around four million pounds, and a Ford Mustang Shelby which is a close replica of ‘Eleanor’ from the film Gone in 60 Seconds.
Three years after leaving McLaren and joining Mercedes, Hamilton splurged on a P1 supercar which is capable of reaching 100 kilometres per hour in under 2.7 seconds. He also owns a McLaren F1 with the chassis number 044, a nod to his racing number.
Many of his cars are rarely taken out of the garage, though, with Hamilton admitting in 2022 that he is terrified of driving on normal roads.
“I just think I find it stressful,” he told Vanity Fair as he drove on the roads in the south of France. “This is now stressful for me. This road is crazy. So much going on here. Look, we’re on these roads, anything can happen.
“People say: ‘Dude! You drive around at 200 miles an hour!’ And I’m like, in terms of fear factor, that’s easy for me.”
