Lewis Hamilton ‘ends romance with popular actress’ who was 12 years older | F1 | Sport

Lewis Hamilton’s relationship with Sofia Vergara, who was 12 years his senior, has reportedly come to an end. Vergara made her name after starring in the hit show Modern Family and had been linked with the Formula One star earlier this year.

Rumours that the pair were dating sparked up after Hamilton and Vergara were seen having a spot of lunch in January. The pair met for food in New York, with Vergara spotted grinning from ear to ear during the cosy encounter. Hamilton and Vergara continued their chat outside Breakfast by Salt Cure in the American city, before the actress slipped away during a pre-arranged pick-up.

However, according to RadarOnline, the A-list duo have now decided to go their separate ways. It’s suggested that Vergara, who turns 53 in a few months’ time, had been keen to push forward with Hamilton, viewing the motorsport ace as “the perfect boyfriend and a great catch”.

But, as preparations for the new Formula One season ramped up, it’s claimed Hamilton’s affection waned, leaving Vergara feeling “abandoned”. The report does hint that the two are still in occasional contact, but hopes of rekindling their romance appear all but dead in the water. An insider close to the TV and movie star said: “She’s the one who stays in touch, hoping for more—and gets little in return.”

It comes amid a hectic on-track spell for Hamilton, who is two races into life as a Ferrari driver. After finishing 10th on debut in Australia, Hamilton bounced back last weekend in China, winning the sprint race and placing sixth overall in Sunday’s race at the Shanghai International Circuit.

However, the Italian constructor were rocked when both Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were disqualified from the race. Hamilton’s motor had been in breach of the technical regulations relating to the rearward skid, whereas Leclerc’s car was below the minimum weight.

Reacting to the decision, Ferrari said: “Following the FIA post-race scrutineering both our cars were found not to conform to the regulations for different reasons. Car 16 was found to be underweight by 1kg and car 44’s rearward skid wear was found to be 0.5mm below the limit. Charles [Leclerc] was on a one-stop strategy today and this meant his tyre wear was very high, causing the car to be underweight.

“With regard to Lewis’ skid wear, we misjudged the consumption by a small margin. There was no intention to gain any advantage. We will learn from what happened today and make sure we don’t make the same mistakes again. Clearly, it’s not the way we wanted to end our Chinese GP weekend, neither for ourselves, nor for our fans whose support for us is unwavering.”
