Keep taps ‘spotless and scratch free’ with natural method – only costs 17p

Grime, soap scum, limescale, and endless fingerprints can make even the shiniest taps look drab and dirty.

What’s worse, many household cleaners are packed with harsh chemicals that can damage the tap’s finish, leaving them with an unsightly, dull brownish hue.

But cleaning expert Nancy Emery from Tap Warehouse has revealed an easy, affordable solution, the humble lemon.

Nancy warns against using “harsh chemicals” like vinegar, especially on modern finishes such as matt black, chrome, or brushed brass.

Instead, she recommends a natural remedy using lemon juice.

“The best way to keep your taps spotless and scratch-free is by using a 75/25 solution of lemon juice and water,” Emery suggested.

“You can also use a soft cloth with warm soapy water, but the lemon juice helps remove tougher stains. Just be sure not to leave the lemon juice sitting on the tap for more than a couple of minutes before rinsing.”

Lemon has been used in household cleaning for years, and with good reason.

Its grease-busting properties make it ideal for cleaning various surfaces, while its natural antibacterial and antiseptic qualities leave everything fresh and clean.

Plus, its pleasant citrus scent is a bonus for keeping bathrooms smelling great, without relying on chemical-laden air fresheners.

Lemons are also affordable and easy to find, with prices starting as low as 17p at your local supermarket.

In addition to cleaning taps, Nancy suggested using lemons for other household cleaning tasks, such as freshening up the microwave.

Thanks to its acidity, lemon juice can effectively cut through grease and eliminate bacteria.

To clean a microwave, Nancy recommends placing half a lemon in a bowl of water and microwaving it.

“Heat on high power for three to five minutes to create steam, then use the wet cloth to wipe away any grime from the interior,” she advised.

“For best results, make it a habit to wipe down your microwave after each use.”
