Iran in flames after devastating US and Israeli strikes | World | News
Iran’s capital Tehran erupted into huge flames overnight as the US and Israel launched a fresh barrage of devastating strikes, with Donald Trump issuing a new eight word warning. Israel’s military confirmed it carried out new strikes that shook neighbourhoods in Tehran, as the war in the Middle East enters its second week.
Tehran’s skyline turned an eerie red with massive columns of fire seen above the capital. Smoke engulfed the surrounding cityscape as residents complained of a lingering burning smell in the air. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it struck “several fuel storage complexes” in Iran’s capital, which the country’s National Iranian Oil Company later confirmed.
In a statement, the IDF said it had acted on intelligence to strike oil depots controlled by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
It said the Iranian regime used the depots to distribute fuel to military forces across the region.
The IDF added: “strike significantly deepens the damage to the military infrastructure of the Iranian terrorist regime.”
One Tehran resident said the night sky was so brightly illuminated by fiery orange flames from the intense overnight blazes that it felt “as if night had turned into day.”
Another local added that he saw a “red light and everywhere was alight” after the strikes.

Saturday’s assault on key Iranian infrastructure came as US President Donald Trump suggested the conflict with Iran might only end once the country’s military and leadership were completely dismantled.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said: “At some point, I don’t think there will be anybody left maybe to say ‘We surrender’.”
Taking a swipe at Keir Starmer the US leader also took to Truth Social to say the US did not need the UK’s two aircraft carriers in the Middle East.
Claiming the US have “already won” said the UK was once their “Greay Ally”.
He wrote: “The United Kingdom, our once Great Ally, maybe the Greatest of them all, is finally giving serious thought to sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East.
“That’s OK, Prime Minister Starmer, we don’t need them any longer — But we will remember. We don’t need people that join Wars after we’ve already won!”
