Horror as British dad dies in front of his kids on Spain go-kart track | World | News

A British father has died while go-karting in Spain. The 62-year-old is said to have gone into cardiac arrest while he was with his two children at a track near the town of Ciutadella in Menorca. The alarm was raised around 3pm local time (2pm BST) this afternoon.

Paramedics rushed to the scene and tried to revive him for more than an hour but, despite their best efforts, were unable to save him. The man and his family were reportedly residing at a villa in Cala En Porter, in the southern part of the Balearic island.

The tragedy struck at an outdoor go-kart track called Castillo Menorca, which describes itself online as the holiday island’s largest of its kind.

The attraction offering different categories of go-karts for children and adults is on the main Menorca NE1 road between Ciutadella and Ferreries.

It was not immediately clear whether the British national lived on the island or was holidaying there.

Police have yet to make any comment. A post-mortem is expected to take place tomorrow.

Ciutadella is the historic former capital of Menorca and is located on the western end of the island. Ferreries is located more inland.

This tragedy struck as Spain is experiencing high temperatures, with the BBC weather forecasting highs of 27C on June 9.
