French Open LIVE: Djokovic surgery row explodes as Tsitsipas fires Alcaraz accusation | Tennis | Sport


It’s semi-final day in the women’s singles at the French Open. Defending champion and tournament favourite Iga Swiatek takes on Coco Gauff, and Jasmine Paolini faces the unseeded Mirra Andreeva.

The final four has now been finalised in the men’s competition as well. Casper Ruud was already through courtesy of Novak Djokovic withdrawing from the tournament, with the Serbian’s participation at Wimbledon also now in doubt after it was confirmed he had suffered a torn medial meniscus.

Ruud will now face Alexander Zverev on Friday. The Russian made a third straight semi-final in Paris by beating Alex de Minaur 6-4 7-6 6-4, as he chases his maiden Grand Slam title.

Carlos Alcaraz meanwhile, will also be in action tomorrow against Jannik Sinner. The Italian will be the new world No.1 at the end of the tournament after Djokovic withdrew.
