This fun quiz follows research indicating that many traditional festive customs are fading as younger generations opt for modern alternatives such as donating to charity instead of sending cards.

And Almost 20% of millennials are planning to cook their Christmas dinner on the barbeque this year, according to recent findings.

The survey also revealed that half of 18 to 24 year olds are likely to adopt new traditions, compared to just 5% of those over 65.

A spokesperson for Lottoland, which commissioned the study, commented: “It looks like we are seeing an end to certain traditions that used to be popular at Christmas time.”

The study revealed that UK adults have been participating in their favourite annual traditions for an average of 32 years or more. Over half of the respondents hope their children will carry on these festive customs passed down through generations.

Despite Britain’s chilly weather, 51% of those surveyed wouldn’t want to spend Christmas Day in a warmer climate. For two-thirds, it just ‘wouldn’t feel the same’, while 57% relish the cosiness of being indoors when it’s cold outside.
