F1 LIVE: Toto Wolff responds after Lewis Hamilton strop as Max Verstappen warned | F1 | Sport

Alex Albon compiled statistics comparing his performances at Red Bull with those of his predecessor and successor, Pierre Gasly and Sergio Perez, to demonstrate his credentials to team bosses and earn an F1 seat.

The 27-year-old was demoted to the role of Red Bull’s test and reserve driver at the end of 2020 and did not return to the grid until signing with Williams for the 2022 season.

“I kind of did something I think everyone would do in the same way as me,” Albon told the High Performance podcast.

“I basically got statistics and research on Pierre Gasly, who I replaced myself in the team and then Sergio [Perez] at the time, who is currently in the seat.

“It was very simple statistics, but most of it was relative to Max [Verstappen] so speed, qualifying, race, on an Excel sheet.”
