Expert reveals two ‘tell-tale signs’ that show Trump ‘has dementia’ | World | News
A prominent psychotherapist has laid out his concerns for Donald Trump’s mental state, suggesting that the US President could have dementia. Dr. John Gartner, who has practiced in Baltimore for 35 years, believes that Trump is demonstrating at least two tell-tale signs common in those suffering from the disease.
After previously saying publicly that “there is absolutely no doubt” that Trump has dementia, the clinician has expanded further by highlighting the symptoms he believes Trump is demonstrating. Speaking in a podcast appearance with MindSite News, Dr Gartner said: “When we’re diagnosing dementia, what we need to see is a deterioration of someone’s own baseline of functioning. What we see that a lot of people don’t appreciate is that when Donald Trump was younger in the 1980s, he was actually quite articulate.
“He spoke in polished paragraphs; now he has difficulty even finishing a sentence.”
Dr Gartner believes that the decline in Trump’s public speaking capability, is the first symptom that could indicate he is suffering from the illness.
He said: “He is losing his capacity for coherent speech. We’ve collected dozens and dozens of Trump’s phonemic paraphrasias, in which you use sounds in place of an actual word (a hallmark of brain damage and dementia).
“What happens is that someone is trying to say a word and then they get the first part out but they have to end it or create one because they can’t remember the rest.
“Trump will say something like ‘mishiz’ for missiles, or “Chrishus” for Christmas, because he can’t complete the word.”

The President gave the first State of the Union address of his second term last night where he spoke for 108 minutes, the longest address in history, half an hour longer than his last speech.
Throughout his second presidency, he has become well known for long speeches covering a variety of differing topics.
Dr Gartner believes that the president’s perceived erratic behavior and impulsivity is another sign that all might not be well.
He added: “The other way we see deterioration is in his behavior. Actually, this is where people say, ‘Well, how can you tell?
“He’s a bad person; he breaks every rule of law and decency, what is new?’
“But he is much more impulsive and erratic now. He blurts things out; he makes impulsive decisions that he has to then reverse, like his many reversals on tariffs.”
