Chinese zodiac: 5 animal signs are luckiest this week
Chinese zodiac: Five animal signs are luckiest this week – is yours on the list?
Known as the only mythical creature in the Chinese zodiac and a notoriously prosperous one, it may be a surprise that Dragons might not be lucky in their zodiac year.
It’s not just those born in the Year of the Dragon. In Chinese folklore, it is a very popular superstition that people’s zodiac year of birth is unlucky.
However, other animal signs may experience the opposite, with good fortune heading their way.
The Chinese zodiac consists of 12 animals, each representing a year in a 12-year cycle. These animals are the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.
Sharing her astrological insights with Your Tango, astrologer and tarot reader, Valeria Black revealed the “luckiest” animals from December 9 to 15.

According to Valeria, this week’s I ching hexagram of luck is “mountain over earth,” which suggests that “massive growth” can initially seem destructive.
Those willing to trust the process will reap the reward in the form of luck, which this week favours the Horse, Ox, Rabbit, Goat and Dog.
1. Horse
Those born in the Year of the Horse (1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, and 2014) will find their luck centred on their kind nature.
Valeria says that choosing to be positive will guide you to positive experiences and forge a stroke of luck in “unexpected ways.” The opposite is true if you favour toxicity over peace.
The astrologer explained: “This luck will also bring you new friends and positive support. The colour green will be lucky for you this week.”

2. Ox
As for the Ox (people born in 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009), this week is all about spending time with your inner child and leaning into nostalgia.
Valeria suggests that some luck this week will bring unexpected wisdom because children tend to see the world more literally.
She said, “If that inspires you, then even better!” This week’s lucky charms include the colour red.
3. Rabbit
People born in Rabbit Years (1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011) who tune into their financial intuitions this week may find themselves “extraordinarily blessed”.
Valeria said this could present as extra cash, a promotion or knowledge about a great opportunity.
It’s a useful time to invest your money “where you feel it will grow”, said the astrologer, who added that green and yellow are considered luck for the Rabbit this week.
4. Goat
Self-identity is the main theme for those born in the Years of the Goat (1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015). Valeria suggests that this week, they should find ways to feel more confident.
She warned that it’s important not to pass up opportunities because you feel they are undeserved.
The astrologer said: “For some of you, this originates from toxic social circles that may be blocking your luck.” Seeking out the colour yellow could boost your luck this week.
5. Dog
The Year of the Dog won’t come around again until 2030 but those born in previous years (1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006), will benefit from good luck this week.
According to Valeria, getting to the heart of your cultural heritage and culture – be it in history, art or geography – is a way to unlock said fortune.
She suggested: “Those who are studious will also discover opportunities to study and learn more from an incredible mentor or even in a different country.”
