Bruno Fernandes helps to save ill passenger on easyJet flight to Portugal | Football | Sport

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes reportedly came to the rescue of a passenger who had fallen ill on an EasyJet flight to Portugal. The midfielder was flying to Lisbon alongside club team-mate Diogo Dalot when he noticed a man at the back of the plane passing out.

Fernandes is claimed to have urgently sought attention for the individual. A fellow passenger revealed that the 30-year-old shouted: “Excuse me! We need help! Excuse me! We need help!”

The Portugal international had gone to the toilet at the back of the plane when he noticed the man. It is said that he stayed with him for up to 10 minutes. He took selfies with passengers when the plane landed in Lisbon.

“Bruno went to the loo at the back of the plane during the flight,” passenger Susanna Lawson told Business Cloud.

“[We] suddenly heard a shout for assistance which those within hearing distance looked back, including us as we were toward the back.

“Members of the crew rushed to the back to help. There was a spare seat at the back which Bruno helped the gentleman to sit down on. He stayed at the back with them and made sure he was OK.

“It might have been about 5-10 minutes and then he made his way back to his seat but again very unassuming. He wasn’t looking for any attention on himself.”

It is claimed that the individual helped by Fernandes is fine.

Lawson, who was part of a group heading out to a conference at which Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada will speak on Tuesday, added: “When I asked him politely for a selfie as we were leaving the plane he was absolutely lovely and actually took the selfie himself.

“I praised him for looking after the ill passenger. Honestly if you didn’t know who he was you would have just thought he was any other passenger.”

Fernandes and Dalot will play for Portugal against Poland in the Nations League on Friday. Roberto Martinez’s side could win Group A1 over the coming days but also face a crunch clash with Croatia on Monday.

United and Fernandes have seen a drastic improvement in performances over the past few weeks. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s appointment as caretaker boss following the sacking of Erik ten Hag brought three wins and a draw in all competitions.

Fernandes will return to Manchester in two weeks to greet new head coach and countryman Ruben Amorim. The 39-year-old is set to take charge at Old Trafford after working his notice at Sporting CP.
