British Gas customers urged to take action before March 1 – ‘free energy’ | Personal Finance | Finance

Millions of UK households are in with a chance of winning free energy as British Gas has a giveaway worth over £1,000. The energy company is offering one of its customers the chance to win a year’s worth of energy valued at £1,748.

The exciting giveaway is open to all customers of its membership scheme, which is entirely free to join. Customers must also opt in to the prize draw to be in with a chance of winning.

British Gas offers a number of members-only offers, including money off repairs and servicing. And all customers need to do to make use of it is register for the membership online or via the app.

You will also find prizes and giveaways in the membership wallet, including the latest “Win Your Bill” draw that is offering a free year’s worth of energy. Customers who would like to be entered must be UK residents aged 18 or over, and both a British Gas Energy Customer and a British Gas Member at the time the promotion closes at 11:59pm on February 28, 2026.

You must also make sure you’re opted in via the Membership wallet by the deadline. Those who are eligible and do want to enter will receive an invitation to participate by email, reports Birmingham Live.

The winner is awarded one year’s worth of free energy, which will be paid via PayPal in the sum of £1,748, or bill credits on their account to the value of £1,748.

British Gas said: “British Gas Membership is free to join and open to all British Gas customers. Members get access to exclusive offers, discounts, prizes and more. It’s our way of saying thanks for being with us.”

When you sign up for British Gas Membership, you’ll receive a welcome email within about 5-10 minutes. If you click on that email, you’ll be taken directly to your membership wallet, which contains your special member offers.

The energy firm added: “We’ll also email you when new offers become available that we think you’ll be interested in.”

You can cancel your membership at any time, but you’ll lose access to exclusive member discounts on the products and services, plus the chance to win prizes.
