Brian May unveils Queen ‘dream come true’ that’s 50 years in the making | Music | Entertainment
Two years ago, Sir Brian May and Roger Taylor released Queen I, a remixed, remastered and expanded version of their band’s original debut album with Freddie Mercury and John Deacon. And now the rock legends have done the same for Queen II, the group’s heaviest album, featuring Ogre Battle and Seven Seas of Rye. Ahead of the March 27 release, Sir Brian has released a new video, which you can view below, unboxing the 5CD+2LP Queen II Collector’s Edition.
Opening up the finished product for the first time, Sir Brian confessed it was “a dream come true” and that it “fulfils the original vision of what Queen II was meant to be”. Alongside the special artwork book, the guitarist is especially pleased that the album has now been tinkered with to sound exactly how they had wanted the record to be in the first place. He added: “I’ve always felt Queen II is a milestone as it was the first time we really got our own way in the studio and were able to paint the pictures that we wanted to paint.”
If that wasn’t enough, on Thursday March 26, Sir Brian will be hosting a Queen II launch event. He teased on Instagram: “Yes !!! Announcing our launch of the brand new rebuilt beautifully shiny chrome plated Queen II ALBUM. I will be there !!! Will you ?!! I wish it were big place so we could invite you all … but this is very intimate — except it will hopefully connect all around the world through my live and lovely Instagram channel — on Bri-TV !!! There ARE some physical invites available but you’ll have to check Queen On Line for that … OK ? CHEERS ALL !!! Bri.”
Queen II Collector’s Edition will be released on March 27 and can be preordered here.
