Following a shooting at a Hanukkah celebration that left at least 15 people dead on Australia’s Bondi Beach, some people in the Jewish community said they had “warned the government” over a rise in anti-Semitism in the country. Victoria Teplitsky, whose father was wounded in the attack, said the shooting was “not a surprise” to many in Australia’s Jewish community.
