Britons in Abu Dhabi have been issued a stark emergency warning telling them to “seek immediate shelter” after reports of an explosion in the region.
An emergency alert circulating on phones warned residents of “potential missile threats”, urging people to take cover in the nearest secure building.
The message said:
“Due to current situation, a potential missile threat. Seek immediate shelter in the closest secure building, and steer away from windows, doors and open areas. Await further instructions.”
The alert, attributed to the Ministry of Interior, also advised people to remain indoors and keep away from exposed areas while authorities assessed the situation.
British boxer, Rocky Fielding currently in the UAE shared a screenshot of the warning on social media, writing he was “trying to get the f* out of here” after receiving the alert.
