Glasner slapped with driving ban after Palace boss caught speeding | Football | Sport
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has been handed a six month driving ban after being caught speeding in Bermonsey, South London last year. The manager was caught driving 29mph in a 20mph zone on Old Kent Road at 7:30am.
Glasner wrote to the caught to plead guilty to the offence, with court records showing a letter that the 51-year-old penned. “I fully accept responsibility for my actions and understand the seriousness of this matter,” he wrote. ” I have taken steps to ensure it will not happen again.
“Due to the nature of my role, I will ensure I take the steps to address the issue.” Glasner had originally tried to pay a fine to resolve the matter, but the points added to his licence took it over the threshold, due to previous offences. He was therefore in line for an automatic ban.
A magistrate has imposed a six-month disqualification on the Palace boss. He has also been told to pay a £660 fine, as well as £130 in costs and a £264 victim surcharge.
Palace are above Spurs in the table with Igor Tudor’s side looking to avoid being dragged further into the relegation battle. Tottenham sit in 16th place, just one point above the bottom three.
Glasner will be looking to end the season on a high with Palace, after announcing that he would be leaving the club at the end of the current campaign. The manager led the club to their first-ever FA Cup last season, with the team also now in the round of 16 of the UEFA Conference League. Palace are currently in 14th place in the table, having picked up 35 points from their 28 games.
