Darts LIVE: Luke Humphries mocks Luke Littler to his face as transgender ace makes history | Other | Sport

Noa-Lynn van Leuven is just hours away from breaking new ground at the World Darts Championship.

She will become the first transgender player to grace the sport’s most prestigious tournament later today.

The 28-year-old, who transitioned in 2021, will face Kevin Doets for a place in the second round.

Speaking ahead of the match, Van Leuven made it clear that she was looking to let her skills take centre stage.

“It’s going to be a big achievement for me and for my kind of people, but I guess I just want to be Noa,” she said.

“I just want to play darts and not always having to talk about the fact I’m also transgender. I’m a darts player and I’m terribly good at it.

“But I guess it’s a big thing and I’m also the first Dutchwoman to play on the Alexandra Palace stage.”
