Tennis news LIVE: Nadal targets career change as Kyrgios reopens feud | Tennis | Sport
Rafael Nadal could be set for a major career change after his uncle revealed his desire to become a director at Real Madrid.
The 38-year-old will bow out of tennis after the Davis Cup finals in Malaga next month, with no clue yet as to what he will do when he hangs his racket up.
But his uncle and coach, Toni Nadal, believes he will remain involved with sport – but perhaps not in tennis. Instead, the 22-time Major winner could take his dream role at Real Madrid.
“If they offer him the position of director of Madrid, he will surely say yes,” Toni told Marca.
“He likes football, but he doesn’t understand why my team, which is Barca, touches it, passes it… He has his life focused, he has an academy and he will get more involved.”
