Six Nations LIVE: Mind games begin as ‘idiots’ called out with England facing hammer blow | Rugby | Sport
Wales legend Jonathan Davies has slammed the ‘idiots’ who were responsible for influencing Owen Farrell’s decision to step down from England duty ahead of the Six Nations.
Farrell announced last year that he would not be playing international rugby for the foreseeable future after the pressure of captaincy, including being booed by his own fans, became overbearing.
“Farrell has pulled himself out of it, which is a shame,” Davies told WalesOnline.
“I feel for him. Owen is a great guy and great player. Why people have a go at a winner like him is beyond me.
“I’m just saddened we got to a situation where those idiots forced him to make a decision. Make no mistake though, the Six Nations would be a better tournament with Owen Farrell playing in it.”
