10 stars may miss Chelsea vs Arsenal after Palmer and Trossard updates | Football | Sport
Leandro Trossard has given Arsenal a fresh injury worry, having been withdrawn in the first half of the victory over Bayern.
«With Leo, we don’t know. He said he felt something, we didn’t want to take any risk, obviously,» Mikel Arteta admitted when asked about his decision to substitute Trossard.
Arsenal also have Gabriel Magalhaes, Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus all likely sidelined with injury.
With the exception of Gabriel, all of the aforementioned players could make their comeback from injury against Chelsea, but remain doubts for the time being. Chelsea are hopeful that Cole Palmer, who has been sidelined with a groin injury for much of the season, could make his return against Arsenal.
The England international, who also suffered a fractured toe in a home accident, has not played since September.
The Guardian claim that the Blues are optimistic about Palmer’s potential comeback against the Gunners, after spending most of the campaign on the sidelines.
«Yes, Cole is wearing a boot,» Maresca confirmed ahead of Chelsea’s victory over Barcelona. «We don’t know when [he will be back to full fitness], but it will be soon.
«He is already on the pitch and already touching the ball. The feeling is good. At the moment, we are only looking at tomorrow’s game [vs Barcelona].
«It’s a Champions League match against Barcelona, that is our focus and then we will look ahead to Arsenal. I don’t think he will be available for these two games, but he is doing well.»
Chelsea will also be without Romeo Lavia, Levi Colwill and Dario Essugo for the clash against Arsenal due to injuries.
